Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy Visits Fame Star Youth and Woodberry Aid

On Friday, Fame Star Youth and Woodberry Aid were honoured to welcome Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy for a special visit celebrating the work of two organisations dedicated to supporting local families, empowering young people and strengthening our community. Joining the visit were Councillor Anntoinette Bramble and Councillor Sarah Young, whose continued support for local community organisations is greatly valued. Their visit highlighted the importance of investing in grassroots initiatives that create real and lasting change for residents.
During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy met with staff, volunteers and, most importantly, the incredible young people who are part of Fame Star Youth. He spent time listening to their stories, hearing about their aspirations and learning how the organisation has helped them build confidence, develop new skills and unlock their potential.

The visit also showcased the vital work of Woodberry Aid, which continues to provide practical support to individuals and families through food provision, community initiatives and essential services. Volunteers shared their experiences of responding to increasing demand while remaining committed to ensuring that no one in the community is left behind.
There were plenty of opportunities for photographs throughout the day as Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy met with young people, volunteers and community leaders from both organisations. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and full of pride as everyone came together to celebrate the positive impact being made across the community.
The visit was a fantastic opportunity to highlight how Woodberry Aid and Fame Star Youth work side by side to address immediate needs while creating long-term opportunities for local residents. Whether it's supporting families through difficult times or inspiring the next generation of leaders, both organisations remain committed to building a stronger, more connected and resilient community.
We are sincerely grateful to Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy for taking the time to visit and engage so openly with our community. We also extend our thanks to Councillor Sarah Young and Councillor Anntoinette Bramble for joining us and for their continued commitment to supporting organisations that make a real difference.
A special thank you goes to our dedicated volunteers, staff, partners and supporters. Your passion and commitment make our work possible every day. Finally, we want to recognise our amazing young people, whose enthusiasm, talent and ambition were on full display throughout the visit. They are at the heart of everything we do and continue to inspire us with their determination and potential.
Friday's visit was more than a celebration of the work already being done—it was a reminder of what can be achieved when communities, local leaders and young people come together with a shared vision for a brighter future. We look forward to building on this momentum as we continue supporting local families, nurturing young talent and creating opportunities that help everyone thrive.
